mailout exists to promote and develop participatory and community arts in the UK and beyond. Our mission is to champion outstanding participatory arts in more places with more people and support a world leading community of professional practitioners.
mailout is now looking to broaden the scope of our board to reflect our ambitions. The mailout board does not currently reflect the diversity that we believe is represented by our contributors, readers and users or the communities that they work with. mailout is therefore actively seeking board members from a diverse range of backgrounds.
We are looking for individuals with expertise in digital publishing, archiving, marketing, app development and social networking. We are also seeking board members to act as regional arts representatives. Our arts representatives may be people who work for organisations engaged in participatory activity, freelance participatory arts practitioners, lecturers or teachers, local authority arts officers or people who use and engage with the participatory arts on a regular basis.
This is a voluntary post. Board members are expected to participate via skype or teleconferencing at board meetings which occur quarterly. These meetings last approximately 1-2 hours. There is an expectation that Board Members will be available for discussion on matters relating to the activities of The Mailout Trust and may occasionally offer support to the Editorial Team via email or telephone in addition to quarterly meetings. There is at least one face to face meeting per calendar year and travel costs are covered in this instance. Board Members may, where appropriate, represent mailout at conferences and other events, however there is no remuneration for this.
Applicants should send a short (no more than A4) biog/personal statement about who you are, what you do and your background to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on November 30th 2011.
A sub-committee of the current board will go through your submissions and we will be in touch by mid December.
For an informal discussion about mailout, our board or any other information please call Robert Howell or Lyndsey Wilson on 01254 674777
