In June over a hundred youth practitioners and leaders awaited the arrival of the Dalai Lama in an exceptionally rare visit to Manchester to promote his teachings of peace, dialogue and altruistic acts of compassion.
mailout noticed at the conference – ‘Stand Up and Be the Change’ that there was an absence of dialogue when it came to creativity – an essential contribution to the personal development of a young person.
On posing the question to His Holiness about whether the arts had any role in shaping the next generation the Dalai Lama unfortunately could not respond, prompting mailout to go on our own personal mission to inform the spiritual leader exactly why creativity should feature in the life of any young person.
To help us with our case creative bodies The Dukes, Pans-Merseyside Arts Officers Group, Bolton at Home, QUAD and The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) have provided compelling case studies as part of our evidence to document to His Holiness that Youth Arts Transform Lives – FACT!
