Practitioner opportunities to work with older people in London, West Sussex & South West

imagesThe Courtyard is looking to recruit arts practitioners with an interest in art history to deliver its new Arts and Older People in Care Programme, which is delivered in partnership with Shaw healthcare.  This exciting opportunity to be a part of a nationally recognised project will allow you to develop professionally, whilst working alongside experts within the Arts and Older People field.  You will be provided with an expert mentor, receive initial training, and have the opportunity to shadow your mentor enabling you to develop how you use arts appreciation to facilitate workshops for older people in care settings.  You will deliver 3 eight-week residencies in year 1 of the project.  You will then be provided with further freelance employment for years 2 and 3 of the project.

The ideal candidates will have a real desire to strive towards improving the quality of life for older people through direct access to the arts.  You will need to have an interest in History of Art.  Additionally you will need experience of facilitating workshops; however experience of working with older people isn’t essential, as the programme is designed to support practitioners to develop their skills in this area.  Those with some experience of working with older people are still encouraged to apply if they are keen to develop their skills further whilst working alongside an expert mentor.

Please download an application pack from The Courtyard’s websitewww.courtyard.org.uk/about/job-vacancies.   If you have further queries please email Mel Langford at mel.langford@courtyard.org.uk.
